Some light reading
I was mucking around on the internet, and I found these two posts about boatmom.
Nico Robin, Goddess Extraordinaire
This one talks about her similarities to the Goddess Durga, also her role in the manga, and how she subverts most shonen female roles. It does a good job of outlining why I love her so so much, and also is just a good read about how awesome Robin is.
Enies Lobby, Ethics, and the Scapegoat
This post is helluva lot weightier, and talks about the ethics involved in letting one person suffer in order to keep the rest of the world safe. Super sad and gets into the issues of One Piece that aren't really obvious, but there all the same. It also addresses how easy it would have been for the Strawhats to just walk away. Robin expected them to leave her and do nothing, because that was the simplest choice. Instead, Luffy and the rest of his crew take after her without a second thought. ;; Good pirates, best crew.
